Aromatic and
medicinal
plants
Do you want to recover
local botanical heritage?
We help you bring it to value
The aromatic and medicinal plants of our territory —such as thyme, mastic, sage, oregano, rosemary, among many others— are part of the Mediterranean plant heritage and hold extraordinary potential that often goes unused.
The Mediterranean region produces species of equal or higher quality than those imported in large quantities.
At the Forestry Hub, and with scientific and technological support from the Forestry Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), we advise projects that want to recover, cultivate, and valorise local species, ensuring traceability, sustainability, and productive efficiency.
Our model supports small producers, cooperatives, entrepreneurial initiatives, and companies in the chemical and natural‑products sectors that want to develop high‑value bio‑based products rooted in sustainable territorial management.
What we do?
We train and support producers, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and companies in the chemical sector throughout the entire value chain, backed by CTFC research and pilot infrastructures:
Agronomic management and adapted cultivation
We design production systems, select species and varieties, and provide agronomic management, integrated or not within agroforestry systems, to enhance diversity and resilience to climate change.
Wild collection
We apply scientific protocols and provide training for sustainable harvesting, protecting wild populations while ensuring phytosanitary quality and full traceability.
Advanced transformation processes
We offer infrastructure and equipment for drying, distillation, and ultrasound extraction, supported by demonstrations and workshops on machinery adapted to small-scale production.
Every aromatic and medicinal plant project we support:
Promotes resilience
Reduces fire vulnerability by enriching the agroforestry mosaic, implement regenerative agronomic practices, and enable agroforestry models.
Stores
carbon
Local plants contribute to CO₂ capture and improve soil health and biodiversity.
Boosts the local economy
Create jobs and value rural work, preventing migration to cities and strengthening rural communities.
Closes the productive circle
This model creates a real bioeconomy: resilient, circular, and rooted in the Mediterranean landscape, with a positive impact at all levels.
Who we work with?
Our services are ideal for agricultural entrepreneurs, laboratories working with natural plant products, and producers interested in adding value through local aromatic and medicinal plants.
